Top 4 Ways to Celebrate the 4th of July in Pigeon Forge and the Smoky Mountains
One of the best destinations to celebrate Independence Day is the Smoky Mountains, where you’ll find a variety of special events to commemorate the freedom of our great nation! If you’re lucky enough to be in the Smokies on the 4th of July, there are fireworks displays, parades, live musical performances and other fantastic entertainment! This is also the perfect time to see our country music show, where we combine singing, dancing, comedy and gospel with American patriotism! Here are the top 4 ways to celebrate the 4th of July in Pigeon Forge and the Smoky Mountains:
1. Attend the Patriot Festival at Patriot Park
Patriot Park is the headquarters for the Patriot Festival, Pigeon Forge’s largest celebration of America’s birthday! This annual event on the 4th of July features live music, food, games and fireworks for the entire family, and the best part is that it is free to attend! You are welcome to bring blankets and lawn chairs for the fireworks display that kicks off in the evening. Although coolers are not permitted on site, there will be plenty of food vendors available. There is free parking available at the Teaster Lane Municipal parking lot, and a free shuttle operates every 20 minutes between the lot and festival site.
2. Enjoy the First Independence Day Parade in the Nation
Another top way to celebrate the 4th of July in Pigeon Forge and the Smoky Mountains is by attending the first Independence Day Parade in the nation! This parade kicks off in downtown Gatlinburg at 12:01 AM on July 4th, the same time it has started for over 45 years! The parade route stretches for over a mile, starting on Baskins Creek Bypass on East Parkway, turning south onto Parkway at traffic light #3 and traveling the length of downtown to traffic light #10 at Ski Mountain Road. If you are planning to attend, be sure to arrive early on July 3rd in order to secure the perfect viewing area along the parade route!
3. Watch Gatlinburg’s July 4th Fireworks Finale
While the Independence Day parade in Gatlinburg starts early in the day, Gatlinburg’s July 4th fireworks display kicks off nearly 23 hours later with an 11 PM start time! The fireworks will be launched from the Gatlinburg Space Needle and you can view the fireworks from nearly anywhere throughout the city! For an extra special treat, consider heading to the Fourth of July Celebration at Gatlinburg SkyLift Park! This unique event offers VIP viewing of the Gatlinburg fireworks display from the top of the mountain, and guests will also have exclusive after-hour access to the SkyBridge, SkyTrail, SkyDeck and SkyCenter!
