There is free parking available at the Teaster Lane Municipal parking lot, and a free shuttle operates every 20 minutes between the lot and festival site.

2. Enjoy the First Independence Day Parade in the Nation

Another top way to celebrate the 4th of July in Pigeon Forge and the Smoky Mountains is by attending the first Independence Day Parade in the nation! This parade kicks off in downtown Gatlinburg at 12:01 AM on July 4th, the same time it has started for over 45 years! The parade route stretches for over a mile, starting on Baskins Creek Bypass on East Parkway, turning south onto Parkway at traffic light #3 and traveling the length of downtown to traffic light #10 at Ski Mountain Road. If you are planning to attend, be sure to arrive early on July 3rd in order to secure the perfect viewing area along the parade route!
