1. Gorgeous Weather for Outdoor Activities
One of the top reasons why you should look forward to spring in the Smoky Mountains is because there is gorgeous weather for outdoor activities! After months of being cooped up during the chilly winter months, there is nothing like getting back outside and into the sunshine! This is a lovely time to take a scenic hike or race through the trees on a zipline! 2. Start of Wildflower Season
Spring signifies the start of wildflower season in the Smokies, so you won’t want to miss this annual showcase of stunning wildflowers! There are more than 1,500 flowering plants that grow in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which is more than any other American park! A group of wildflowers called spring ephemerals start the yearly show, which only appear above ground in late winter and the early spring. The peak of spring wildflower blooming usually occurs in mid to late April at lower elevations in the park and a few weeks later at the highest peaks. Although you can spot the wildflowers virtually anywhere in the park, some of the best destinations are the Cove Hardwood Nature Trail, Little River Trail, Middle Prong Trail, and the Appalachian Trail.
3. Country Tonite Opens Its Doors

Our Pigeon Forge show features a fast paced production with a variety of dynamic singing and dancing, side-splitting comedy, powerful gospel, and American patriotism! This is the type of “feel good” show your family and friends will be talking about long after your Smoky Mountain vacation is over! We also host a wonderful variety of celebrity concerts and shows throughout the year too! Our multi-million dollar theater is the perfect place to see a concert as it features 1,500 seats and state-of-the-art sound and lighting. In addition, there are two giant video screens so that every seat is just like sitting in the front row!
