Oak Ridge Boys Join Country Music Hall of Fame, Will Play Pigeon Forge Concert in May

We are pleased to report that our longtime friends The Oak Ridge Boys are going to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame this fall! In a recent press conference in Nashville, the Hall of Fame announced that the beloved gospel crossover quartet will join the ranks of country music’s most respected institution. The Oak Ridge Boys have played many times at the Country Tonite Theatre, and they will be back again this May for a special Pigeon Forge concert.

About The Oak Ridge BoysThe Oak Ridge Boys preparing for their Pigeon Forge concert.

Bridging the gap between gospel, country, and pop, the Oak Ridge Boys have carved out a singular niche in American popular music. The original Oak Ridge Quartet was formed in the 1940s in Knoxville, Tennessee, taking their name from the nearby city of Oak Ridge. In 1973, the Oak Ridge Boys adopted their current lineup of Joe Bonsall, Richard Sterban, William Lee Golden, and Duane Allen.

With their infectious four-part harmonies, the Oak Ridge Boys have scored a number of chart topping hits, including “Elvira”, “American Made”, “Fancy Free”, and “Bobbie Sue”. The group has been honored with five Grammy Awards, eight GMA Dove Awards, four Country Music Association Awards, and two Academy of Country Music Awards.

At the Country Music Hall of Fame press conference, the Oak Ridge Boys were very excited about their latest honor. Frontman Joe Bonsall drew comparisons to the baseball, football, and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, saying “This is Cooperstown, man. This is Canton. This is Cleveland. This is Nashville”.

Other artists who will be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2015 include the late guitarist Grady Martin and the great country music singer Jim Ed Brown, who performed at Country Tonite last year.
